©2023 The Achaemenids deck features King Cyrus the Great of Persia as the King of Hearts, developed based on available historical records of his appearance. Cyrus the Great was the founder of the Achaemenids dynasty; the First Persian Empire. He was a benevolent conqueror and ruler for his time, creating the first charter of Human Rights (The Cyrus Cylinder) after freeing enslaved peoples in Babylon. He has been described as a masterful leader who ruled not by fear, but by love, compassion, and respect for all people. Therefore, we felt he was the best fitting historical figure for the King of Hearts.
